This week, New York’s unemployment insurance fund, which the state Labor Department says has paid out over $100 billion dollars in benefits to millions of New Yorkers during the COVID-19 pandemic, is now running a deficit. Our political observer Dr. Alan Chartock shares his thoughts on New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s decision to stop paying the legal bills of state employees who worked for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Also, at its latest meeting, the New York State Climate Action Council continued its work to create a plan to meet the state’s climate goals.
